Definition of Pulmonary insufficiency
Pulmonary insufficiency: 1. Incomplete closure of the pulmonary valve in the heart, allowing blood to return from the pulmonary artery into the right ventricle.
2. Respiratory insufficiency in which the lungs cannot take in enough oxygen or expell enough carbon dioxide to meet the needs of the body.
